was looking for a cz75 compact, ended up with a cz82

I was looking for a cz75 compact for quite a while and finally got over it when i found a really nice cz82 with just a little holster wear. I figure i can get it refinished how i want at some point and still be under the price of a stock 75 compact.

The thing id like to know is what are the reliability and durability differences between the 82 and 75 compact?

They both are durable and reliable pistols, aside of that they are different class. I own several several 75B, pre-B 75, and 82 and most VZ82 (if not all) are war horses imported after long and heavy use in military and police, yet still very accurate, and reliable. IME, the spring refreshing is a most they need (except maybe for the finish which most of the time reflects the long and hard life in service)

heres the cz82 i picked up (sorry for the crappy pic)

im going to order the wolff spring set so i can try out the heavier recoil springs and replace the firing pin spring

Don't get it refinished!! Having a chipped up finish is the correct look for these guns. Like the chipped finger nail polish of a sexy lady mechanic.

uhmm ... maybe some of us prefer that when we take the lady mechanic to the dinner and movies, she doesn't look like 25 years of hard life and five thousand miles in container ...

I've always thought a CZ-82 would be damn fine looking with a full refinishing from Robar, maybe NP3+ on slide and PolyT2 on frame. True, you'd spend twice the cost of the gun, but you'd get a dead-nuts reliable gun with a dead-nuts tough finish.

Hard chrome would be neat too.

Both are excellent pistols. I prefer the punch of the 9 mm over the .380 though.

The 82 is a 9x18 cartridge. Very accurate pistol!

You're still going to get a CZ-75 variant. The CZ-82/83 is nice, but you are still going to want the 75, and you should!
