I would not use Powerpistol with bullets heavier than 210gr in 44Mag.
2400 & 296 are my recommendations for 240s.

Power Pistol

I noticed that on my charts, because of fast burn rate?

Power Pistol is good stuff, but it's a bit fast for 44Mag/240g. You want 2400 or Blue Dot with 240 grainers. AA9 would be a good choice too. And 296 might be more than a lead slug can handle.

For that bullet Alliant shows Unique, Red Dot, Green Dot, and Bullseye.

If they had included Power Pistol, it would have been at 7.5 gr.

They all have very low pressures [~13,000 psi]. The effort seems to be to keep the velocity around 900 fps with all 4 powders.

Power Pistol is perfectly fine for 240 grain bullets in .44 mag for plinking and deer hunting. 10 grains under my own cast RCBS-44-250-K, which is a 250 grain Keith type SWC gives about 1000 fps and is probably my favorite .44 mag load.

I've tried up to 12 grains (about 1200 fps) and still had very good results.

Used PP only because at the time it was all I could get.
E-mailed Alliant my load and they agreed it was good.
240gr JHP over 13.5 gr PP.
2400 in INHO is the best 44 mag powder out there.

Wish I could find some. That is my 9x19 powder. Hasn't been that good for other cartridges, but it sure does well in 9x19.

2400 is my magnum powder. It seems to always be the most accurate, particularly in .45 Win Mag.

It would be "fast" for jacketed bullets, but a number of powders faster burning than Power Pistol are listed for 240g lead. In fact, the lists may not even mention Power Pistol, since it is a medium burner and perhaps "to slow" (for lead). Looking at the data from Hornady, I would say the load mentioned here of 7.0 gr would be about right.

Agreed, i use power pistol for my 150gr flatnose .40's. Its def a fast burn as opposed to something like bluedot.

Power Pistol is all I could find to buy. I wasn't loading .44 but other rounds.

I sent an email to Alliant's Customer support: Mr. Ben Amonette, His email address is:

Mr. Amonette couldn't not have been nicer and he responded with some Alliant loads.

I'd recommend contacting him by email.

I found a 240 jacketed load in Loaddata.com. List 13.4 with standard primers for something over 1300. Start at 12.5 and see what you get. Power Pistol has worked well for me in 44 Spl and 45 Colt.

With the Special, I stick with moderate loads of Unique and Power Pistol and cast bullets. In the 44Mag, I only use heavy loads with H110 and jacketed bullets.
