Handgun buying on gunbroker??

Iam thinking about buying a s&w 4566 off there but have never bought of their. Has any one have any problems from buying off there? One good thing is it would be from a gun shop owner.

Recently made my first internet gun purchase through Gunbroker and was a little nervous. Something about sending money for a gun based on a picture and a description from an individual in another state left me a little uncomfortable. The seller had an excellent record and my transaction went very smoothly. The seller was very responsive and communicated promptly via email to my questions. The gun was excellent as advertised in the ad. The entire transaction from the day I FedExed the cashiers check to my FFL receiving the gun was 4 days.

It's just like buying off EBay. Buy the gun, pay for it, and then send the seller your local gun shop address and FFL (tell them first that you're going to be transferring a firearm through them), and it'll show up in a few days. They'll run your background check there and that's it. You'll probably incur a $30 transfer fee as well.

Yeah I just personally buy from sellers with 10+ feedback, and have nothing to worry about it.

Look at the sellers feedback. Bad feedback? How long ago and for what? Every seller, if they sell long enough will have a few bad feedbacks. Usually it's because their requirements weren't specific enough and required "tuning" a bit to suit the gun or state of the buyer... or sometimes a flaw that was overlooked by the seller and turned into a big deal buy the buyer. A good seller takes guns apart and inspects them closely, and discloses every flaw in the description.

Some sellers have lots of bad feedback... you wonder how anyone is even willing to buy from them. It's a mystery.

Read the requirements directions of the seller thoroughly. If he has unique payment, shipping or FFL specific requirements that you don't agree with or don't understand, contact him via the link to adjust or verify requirements.
If you blindly buy the gun, then something about the auction doesn't suit you which was in print, and there's an argument... it's on you.

Payment is usually with a USPS MO... they can be verified for authenticity on-line instantly. The shipping and receiving GSs should be quite familiar with the exchange of FFLs... so just follow their individual requirements and you're good to go.

Never had a problem. Bought a couple Uberti Cattlemen off GB last year. Flawless transaction. Had them at my FFL and was signing paperwork on them in less than a week, saved about $480 over buying the exact same guns local too.

I have purchased several handguns on Gunbroker over the last few months without any problems. I always read the feedback on the seller and never bought from anyone with less than an A+ rating and 100 comments.

I would just reinforce to the seller that they must pack it very well. It's less of a concern with a handgun but I bought a nice original 1954 Marlin 336, only to have it arrive with the butt plate in pieces and small cracks in the stock. No packing whatsoever around the butt plate. Needless to say, I called the seller and he refunded me something like $120, but I would still much rather have an unbroken rifle.

it's really the only way i buy anymore. i've bought 4 handguns in local shops. i've bought at least 20 from gunbroker. about the same ratio of rifles.

I bought my CZ-82 from Gunbroker. Wasn't bad at all. I want more gunbroker purchases under my belt.

lol i go on buying and selling sprees. at one point, i was up to 38, now i'm down to 19. last week's purchases were an hk mp5 in 22 and a redjacket zk-22 stock for my ruger 10/22. this weekend i sold my pf9, sp2022, and colt defender with wilson combat internals.

I've bought from dealers/FFL's on gunbroker a number of times...here's my checklist.

1. Has to be an FFL...I won't deal with a private individual, unless he's using an FFL on his end. This will help prevent buying a stolen firearm.
2. Has to have a 3-5 day, no fire inspection period...
3. The seller must have about 100 transactions with virtually no negative feed back, and I always read all of the feed back.
4. Payment must allow USPS Money Order. If the seller is bogus and cashes that Money Order...he's playing around with a Federal Felony conviction.
5. Must have adequate pictures that thoroughly demonstrate the gun's condition.
6. Must answer questions posed through GB's usual format...no answer within a few days equals a deal breaker.
7. Must ship to my FFL with no mickey-mouse BS about not taking a copy of his FFL license via FAX.
8. Reasonable shipping charges..ie for a pistol, about $30 max.
9. Lastly, I don't want to deal with a seller that has all sorts of "don't bug me if you're a tire kicker" and similar seller attitude problems. Life's too short to put up with arrogance.

Most of my transactions have taken about two weeks from conclusion of the auction to delivery at my FFL...some have been a cpl days short of that, but none were longer.

Good luck...and BTW...Ive yet to have one go sour on me...and all guns were at least as good as the description and photos. Rod

I never had any issues buying off GunBroker, just like ebay , always buy from people who have a lot of sales and great feedback.

I've picked up several beauties from GB. Requires caution and research to be sure, but the higher prices I would have paid for my internet prizes in a store could have easily paid for another gun. And further, I would have never found these particular guns in person. The online candy store is very dangerous.

I've bought most of my guns off of gunbroker and never had an issues. Never bought a used one though. Every time I've bought its been the best out-the-door price.

I've bought quite a number of new firearms off of GunBroker but never used. That is until November when I bought a Colt Cobra and DS from two different dealers. I was fairly nervous until the arrived. Both were actually better than advertised.

My FFL only charges $15.00.

I've bought most of the guns I've bought over the last 6 years or so off of GB, and almost all of them have been used. I've not been burned yet, every one of them has been as described, or better. I have found some great bargains. I check the sellers feedback, and sometimes, it's pretty entertaining. Some of the negative feedbacks are just ridiculous.

I've bought three or four guns on Gunbroker and haven't had a problem. Of course I only buy from sellers with many transactions and an "A+" rating.
