I bought a pile of once fired .45 ACP cases real cheap from our range officer. While sorting them out I ran across some I haven't seen before.
PMC, Pacific Metallic Cartridge - ? Carroll 45 AUTO - ? TZZ 89 - ? WCC 70 and other dates, Winchester made for the US Govn't - ? S&B O 45 AUTO, These have red color coated primers - ? Any info will be appreciated. |

PMC is Pusan (Korea) and I think Metallic Cartridge. If nobody else knows, I'll go root thru the .223 bin.
Dunno the rest, for certain. |

PMC - I believe Art is right. It is from ROK.
TZZ - probably Czech. WCC - Western Cartridge Co. (before Win. bought them out) S&B - Sellier & Bellot, very common, usually mfg in Czech. Carroll - dunno |

TZZ is IMI's (Israel) military headstamp. IMI makes the best 45 cases.

Carroll is an ammo manufacturer/remanufacturer on the distribution level of Georgia Arms, perhaps a bit smaller. I've only shot a box of their .45 ACP 200gr LSWC, but it was good stuff. (Unfortunately, the range quit carrying it soon after...not enough profit margin.)

Depending on what year and face you're dealing with, PMC can stand for Pan Metal Corporation, Precision Made Cartridges, and maybe one or two other nomes de guerre of the Pusan-based manufacturing concern.
I'm not sure, but I believe that they actually make some of their components here in the US, possibly in CA. Their Nevada operation definitely assembles components into loaded cartridges. They may even make cases & bullets there as well, but I have no hard recent reports. Wasn't that helpful? I feel silly with so little info... |

Cheapo. I have heard that PMC aslo once stood for Patton-Morgan Corp. They have a facility in Henderson, Nevada, which with all the growth is soon to be surrounded by Las Vegas. All the other brass ID's are correct as afar as I know. The only one I didn't know was TZZ.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the info. With the exception of PMC, where there seems to be a litte confusion, I now know more about the cases then I did before...live and learn. |
