Dog shooter sentenced to four months

For all the friends of man's best friend:
This article shows that even a BB gun in the wrong hands is a very bad thing. But at least there is some justice for animal abusers. This guy should be glad he didn't get caught in the act by the wrong dog owner, or there could be two headlines about a shooting!

I hate animal crulty laws, I dont think any person shpould be in prison overe an animal but in this case it wasnt his animal. If we just took his co2 pistal away and shot his eye out and neck, then justice would be served and it wouldnt cost us anything lol.

I hate animal cruelty laws, I dont think any person should be in prison over an animal.

As a dedicated rescuer for almost 30 years...and up to my neck in it for the last 20...I've seen people deliberately do things to dogs that have made strong men cry at the very sight of them. I don't think that the prison sentences are handed out nearly often enough...and for some...they aren't lengthy enough.

Animal abuse is hardly a frivolous crime, and is often a precursor to the abuse of family members. I bet the vet bill wasn't frivolous either.

Also significant is the act of shooting off a weapon in a WalMart parking lot (this is the type of foolish behavior that gets gun laws passed...perhaps a waiting period for BB guns?). If it had been a crime of petty theft or he got caught smoking a joint, I'd be more willing to accept a fine.

In any event, I see BB guns coming under more regs due to this and other irresponsible acts.

A gun is not the solution in this case. A systematical methodical ass whooping is in order. It is obvious there was a plan in place to harm the dog and that is terrible.

I hope his ability to purchase any weapon in the future has been severely restricted for a dam long while or forever. At best he is a cold hearted sob with no impulse controll at worst he is a sociopath. Obvious premeditation is present. Glad he got a stiff sentence, sadly it is rare.

I strongly object to those here who decry animal creulty laws. People such as this are sick and often lead to human crimes... Baseline shooter here in Phoenix is but one example. It truly takes a sick person to deliberately inflict pain and suffering upon the innocent. Even Patton who was about as hard as they come always commented on various societies care for animals as a mark if their civility. If you read his book being sn old calvery guy shows through.

I do animal cruelty investigation as part of my job... Does anyone here who has said it's a waste of time for one second want their kids school bus driver to be some human **** who would treat an animal poorly? Tourture it? Watch it writh with agony? What about the people who we prosecute for intercourse with animals? Yeah it happens, yes we are trained to do rape kits on dogs.

The laws and court time still sound like a waste of time now?

this perp is a POS and he needs to look in the mirror and have an effed up talk with his screwed up brain. animal abuse isn't always a precursor, but this numnut is definately someone who preys on the weak for whatever reason. that is why lots of children are defenseless these days

Anyone that knows me I'm a big animal lover. As some may tell me I'm too leveling on fitting the punishment with the crime the same as humans, I say it would be justified if sentences carried out on crimes against humanity were actually performed.

It isn't about sentencing a person to life in prison if they killed a dog like we would a human. It's about protecting innocent defenseless domesticated animals from people carrying out the evil thoughts they brew up in their heads.

This has gone from being somewhat firearms related to discussions on the morality of cruelty of animals. Yes, I know I contributed to that. Yes, I know it's unfair for me to post my thoughts yet turn around and close the thread. That's why I'm leaving the option open to anyone that would like to give their opposing view on closing this thread to PM me or any Staff member. We'll be happy to review and discuss whether it's worth reopening or not. This offer is for only a short time to keep from having it come up 2 years later...
