He may be once-in-lifetime-buck hopefully hunter may have more opportunities in his lifetimes and that's real nice buck.

Green score is one thing official is another and depending on what that is he may go book P&Y as non-typical. As Scorch mention he score well but not super high and being a bow hunter here in Co I keep up with P&Y.

Min score on P&Y non typical is 170 and record non typical was taken east plains here and he score 274 7/8.

I'm sure hunter that shot him maybe understand more how P&Y works and I do same as he did and have him scored.

Here is picture of #1 http://www.pope-young.org/world-reco...ails.asp?wr=19

most plains tags for deer are on private ground so unless you know someone or have family or wiling to pay your not going to hunt.

I get some pretty nice bucks on my place this place in just north of me.

What you showed was a mule deer.

The minimum for P&Y, non typical whitetail is 155.

Here is the current whitetail record as well as the whitetail that held the record for many years.

He showed mule deer scores because the deer in the pictures is a mule deer.

Yes he was hunted on private land, but luckily the people around where I grew up will usually let a hunter on their property if they ask. It takes 8-9 years to draw a rifle tag out there, and over 6 for ML or archery tag. We had a severe drought the last two years, and I'm surprised any buck that large was found.

I doubt he'll loose over 20" after the drying period so he'll make book. The guy who shot him only said that the deer would make book, and would submit the deer. Neither he or I expected any records to be broken.
