Shooters World Blackout in the 223?

I purchased an 8 pound jug of SW Blackout powder as it was $27/lbs and is supposed to work in the 300BO and the 7.62x39.

There is also data for this powder in the 223. Found on Lovex web site.

55gr FMJ lists a Max of 19.7gr.

I tested this load in my ARs and although velocity was slow, it cycled fine and accuracy was excellent.

Is there any possible issues that might occur using a relatively fast powder like this that leaves a lot of empty space in the case?

I would expect velocity to be poor, like you are experiencing. I would also expect poor velocity consistency, es/sd with a low powder fill.

Great choice for cheap plinking rounds. By "plinking" I mean <100yd goofing off shooting plates and imagining you're fast, running against a timer.
The timer is always a letdown for me...

$27/(7000/19.7) = $.076 - that's cheap shooting nowadays my friend. 2840 rounds worth.

Now you should be able to 55gr bullets to your door for $.09/ea. And the last primers I bought, (3 weeks ago), WSR, were $.072/ea to my door. You can reload for $23.8/round - thats good today!

Not in the least.

Look, if you're worried about old wives tales about detonation, gender dysphoria, CRT, etc. - forget it. I use LT-30, and H4198 when I find them cheap and they work great in my 223 loads. Both of them leave a lot of room in the case.

Safety concerns, no, you will just give up some performance and consistency.

Giving up some velocity compared to other powders, yeah. Consistency, maybe. And, by that I mean it depends on your standards. Match grade SD in single digits, probably not. Good enough for most things, probably.

Whether or not case fill % is going to be an issue or not depends on several variables but not getting the case as full as you can isn't always a problem.

and consistency?? Consider this, shooting from an AR, with its fast feed and sudden stop when chambered, the powder will tend to be shifted to the front of the case fairly consistently.

hmmm i figured it would bounce and settle; unless of course you are running a bumpstock or full auto. shows what i know about powder in a shell.
