Minute of Angle which is not = to 1" but to 1.047" at 100 yards.

Here is a good indepth explanation of MOA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcsecond

Technically it's Minute Of Arc but most shooters use it as CPTMurdoc does.

360 degrees in a circle
60 minutes in a degree
1/60th of a degree, run to 100 yards has 1.047" spread between legs of the angle. at 200 yards its 2.094", at 300 yards its 3.141"...

rear sights on high power service/match rifles are built to adjust in 1/2 minute increments for both elevation and windage (many shooters use 1/4 1/4 rear sights) where your standard AR type rifle will have 1 minute or in the case of my Colt, 1-1/3 minute sights...

i have 1/4 1/4 rears but i cant hold that hard so i still usually make double the correction (effectively making my sights 1/2s)

MOA to the gun nut: A good ol plain jane INCH at 100 yards. (shooters Minute of Angle)
Ditto.... and Most NRA-CMP Highpower targets are made with scoring rings marked to the nearest inch... not 1.047"

Best to all,
