New Yugo M48A

Just picked this up from a local shooter. Have not had a chance to tear it down yet, it has a decent amount of cosmo seeping out. Is there a way to date this rifle, I think the M48As were made for a pretty good span of years. Looking at the bore, I agree with the seller, I don't think this rifle has ever been fired or if it has been, it was very few rounds. It will look a lot prettier once it is cleaned up. Not pictured is an original leather sling, which I really dig but it sticks out too much to let the rifle fit into my overcrowded safe.

Can't wait to take this one out to shoot!

That is perhaps one of the nicest one of those I have ever seen. I have M48BO and yours puts mine to shame. Congratulations on a very nice rifle.

Thanks Tidewater, nice to hear. I think it may be unissued. It has a few dings from storage in the wood, the little scratches on the floor plate but the bolt and bore look untouched.

I have no doubt yours will too.

Yep, I saw your 24/47 in Bobby's Mauser thread, it is a looker. I am looking forward to putting some rounds through this one.

A guy is selling 8x57 ammo at "Gunboards", "WTT" for a decent price. He is in northern KY.

I picked up one of these when they first were offered by SAMCO or CAI. I can't remember which. It was in unissued condition like yours, new and packed in cosmo. The rifle also came with the sling, bayo, and other accoutrements.
The real surprise came with my first range trip and shooting Yugo surplus ammo, revealed one ragged hole at 50yds with a a rest. Spread was not much greater at 100. You will find you also have a great shooter.

Thanks for the info and input, I can't wait to shoot it. Waiting on the range here that will let me shoot my Yugo 50's surplus, need some rain before they Forest Service will open it.
