Cannon questions
Hoping someone can give me so info on this brass cast cannons maker, age, etc. Bore 50 1/2 inch, 11 1/4 inches overall. Thank you for advice/information.

I would guess that the "71" stands for being made or proofed in 1971 since the last 2 digits of the year of manufacture are often stamped on muzzle loaders.

The styling does look similar to the Louis XIV 18th century replica or the Spanish 18th century "El Tigre" replica cannon (non-firing):

Thank you all for your responses and ifo. This started out to be used as a sundial (high Noon) cannon. As you can see no progress as yet.
Articap, I think your right on May have been made some years back:but, very close to those currently being made. Thanks, Steve |
