.243 reloading sucess

Thanks to the guys who answered my questions last month. I reloaded 50 rounds of .243 with Nosler 95 gr Spitzer and 42.5 gr IMR 4895. We went to the range Sunday. Once scoped in, the accuracy was amazing! Now I'm ready to reload everything in sight!

imrpowder.com list a min charge of 32grs and max of 35.5grs of IMR4895

www.imrpowder.com says the max load for a 95gr Nosler Partition using IMR4895 in a 243Win is 35.5 grains. You might want to check Noslers website also, your load is seven grains over the "max load" for that powder.. Your way over the top with that load.. William

I've had great success in my 243ack with H4831SC and H1000 using 95gr and 105gr VLD Bergers if you want to expand your horizons. Some will say that these powders burn rate is to slow for a 243. When I shot 1000yd BR, they were the powder of choice.

I was thinking maybe you meant H4895, but even that max is 35 grains. You are way off the charts if you are pushing that much powder.

I would strongly suggest you review your load data.

4831 would be the most likely powder at that charge weight to give good results with a 95 grain bullet in the .243 win.

let's hope he meant 4831

Almost every .243 I own loves IMR-4895, with IMR-4320 is a close second. I'm loading only 34 grains behind 100 grain Sierras and wondering how the OP is even getting that much coal into the case.

I am a fan of H414 (40.5 grains, to be exact). I think my next project will be developing a load with Varget.

4895 is far from ideal for the 95 gr. bullet. 414, 760, and 780 are ideal powders for that weight.

My mistake; I am using IMR 4831. I've been researching this a lot over the past year, and didn't think I would blow it that bad! This load was recommended by Hart Rifles, who modified my Remington 700 a couple of years ago.

Should make this a sticky, example, as to why you should never blindly take anyones loads as being correct.
Big kudo's to those who quickly caught the mistake. You can not place a value on experience.
