First-Time Buyer - Fair Prices????

Hi all,

I am a first-time handgun buyer and I have narrowed my choices down to two.

Sig p220 .45
Sig p226 9mm

Can anyone give me some fair prices for these guns as I am not very experienced in this matter. I would rather have the .45, but the 9mm might be more cost effective for practicing, as I need to practice for accuracy. The primary use of this weapon will be home-defense / fun.

You can try looking at http://www.gunfinder.net/ or some of the auction sites such as Guns America (http://www.gunsamerica.com/), Auction Arms (http://www.auctionarms.com/) or Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com/) to get some average prices, but when it comes down to it, your geographical location will have alot to do with what the going price for a new SIG.

If you're interested in used, I think CDNN has some used P226's for $379.99 (Page 9 of their catalog)

Both guns can be had for around $625 NIB. Bob Swanson in the Gun List has P220 for $539. He also has a P226 WITH NO MAGS for $595. As for caliber, pick your preference. Ammo can be found in both for very reasonable prices.

I prefer to stick with the standard caliber's, in all Sig-Sauer (and other) handguns. With that said, I own
and shoot a P220A in .45ACP, P226 and P228 in 9m/m.
