Saxon 15-45X52 spotting scope.
I just got a catalog from Competitive Edge Dynamics, containing an ad for the Saxon 15-45X52 spotting scope.
It’s a Chinese scope, retailing for an absurd $299. CED has it for $90 + shipping and they’re on eBay for $66 direct from China with free shipping. Obviously, it’s not going to be a great scope, but it's the only scope CED sells, so it’s probably not going to be complete junk, either. Does anyone have experience with these scopes? |

Hearing no objection, I bought one for $59 and change with free shipping on eBay.
I'm willing to gamble $60. |

I received the scope. It won’t focus at any distance at any power setting.
I’ve notified the eBay resolution center. Guess I’ll stick with my 35 year old Redfield spotting scope. It’s big and heavy, but it’s clear and dependable. |

I never have had luck with that Chinese crap and would like to hear what others consider to be a good scope as I am in the market for one also.

Yeah, the Chinese are giving me the runaround big-time. They want me to either have the scope repaired here in Florida (good luck finding parts!) or ship the thing to them with a tracking number. Shipping with tracking costs more than the cost of the scope.
They offered to send me a “gift” – but they didn’t say what that was, and they want me to accept a partial refund on an item that’s 100% worthless. And so it goes ….. |
