Colt Wheel gun

Since my birthday is tomorrow, I am celebrating with a new gun. 1968 Colt Trooper .357 4" barrel. It is in very good condition. The only noticeable area is the very tip of the barrel has some blue loss. That is pretty much it. The target stocks are very good and are correct for the gun, it has the wide hammer which I like. Locks up tight and no timing issues. It does not have box or papers, but I was able to snag it for 650.00. I think that was a pretty fair price for a really nice 40 year old Colt. How do you guys like it? Any Colt collectors out there. Uh.... sorry I got the date wrong. I need to read more carefully, it is actually a 1968 model.

Alright where is your time machine. You went back to 1968 and picked it up didn't you? Very nice Colt there. A perfect birthday present. BTW have a Happy Birthady young man.

357 python. Yeah that would be nice to go back to 68 and pick up some new Colts. I'd get me an armful of Pythons, and on the second trip I'd score some Officer Model Matches and on the third trip some DS, or Diamondbacks, how about it.

An excellent choice, my favorite revolver is my 1968 vintage Trooper, and the Trooper and earlier .357 are much underappreciated IMHO.

Grant D you'd better hang on to that wife. She is a keeper. The OMM is one of my favorite Colts. I have a 1959 model with the full checkered stocks. It is a great shooting gun.

How do I like it? It's "BEAUTIFUL!

I searched high and low for a 4" 60's Colt Trooper like yours without having any luck! But I finally found the following 1968 6" Trooper in the same mint condition as your 4" Trooper:

Range report on Trooper

Just so you don't think the old Trooper is just another pretty face. Its got some bite as well. I shot this group from 21' with no benchrest, just a two hand hold. Magtech 158 flat nose bullet. Measured with the dial calipers I got a max of .924" center of holes. I know some of you shoot some nice groups but that is pretty good for me. I think I'll keep it.

1)Yes, those old Troopers have great triggers!

2)I see from your listing of guns, that your taste in revolvers is similar to mine. I have some Pythons, one 1957 Colt OMM .22lr, some GP100 half-lug's and some Ruger Six Series revolvers.

Boa, my interest mainly lies in Colt revolvers and Sig autos. My Colts as of right now are Diamondback .38, (2) Pythons, Nickel DS, Nickel Trooper MKIII, Trooper .357, and OMM .38 . Also have a XSE 1911 Colt. I picked up the GP100 recently after selling one that I had for 20+ yrs. I tuned the trigger up and put a lighter mainspring in. Its one of my favorite shooters now. I had a really nice Security Six in stainless but the trigger was never as good as I had hoped, especially in DA. So I sold it to a friend. The GP100 was much better. I also have had some S&Ws that have come and gone. One I really regret selling was a blue 586 LNIB. I should be kicked for letting that one get away. Have a nice Thanksgiving holiday!

About 20 yrs. ago I bought a Colt King Cobra snubbie. I paid around $450.00 for it. It recently appraised for $1100.00. Obviously I like it.
