Well, essentially, it would be pretty much identical to the .250 Savage. Probably isn't much point to necking the .308 down to .25 as the .250 Savage has been there for a long time...

So with the Ackley shoulder, you've essentially got a shortened .25-'06?

Art. The .25 Souper is either the .308 Win.necked down to .25 caliber, or the .243 necked up, your choice with no other change. There is no Ackley shoulder.
I would estimate that is would be somewhere between the .257 Roberts and 25-06 in potential.

Gunmart. Huntington's has the dies you are looking for in their latest catalog. Die group is "G". Part # 56145. They are special order dies. The full length set is $86.85 plus S&H. Dies are made by RCBS.

Ballistically, this should come out about where the Ackley "Improved" Savage 250-3000 did. 'About a tenth of an inch difference in most of the length dimensions of the case between the .308 and the Savage .250, with the .250 being the shorter of the two.

I thought that's what you started out to do, Gunmart.

Loading data can be found in P.O. Ackley's Hanbook. If you dont have one here are some starting loads for the 100 gr.44gr of Imr 4350 to 3035fps. 49 gr of 4831 to 3020 fps. 41 gr of 4320 to 3150fps.These are all pretty old starting loads and there are a lot of powders that are close to these that would work better.By the way there is a "improved" version called the 257. Durham Jet. Pretty good ballistics about a 150-200fps better than the 25 Souper.
