Id take an Hk, but I do like sigs.
Hk's have the Mark23, the Mp5, the PSG1, and this special feeling i get when i shoot them. Sigs have a better DA/SA pull and fit my had pretty good But i love HK and im an HK man. |

Get the Sig.
The difference in price will allow you a few extra mags, ... ... and a nice investment in gold bullion. |

Hmm...
SIGs are more reliable. P7 is safe and fast. Ugghh! I have been going back and forth for years. USPs don't cut it. GHB

Ha! I just put Sig 1 vote (for now) over the HK.
Both perfectly fine. I've got nothing against either of them. But if I HAD to choose its Sig.

All I know is......
I believe this is this closest poll I have seen on this forum, I'm sure glad I don't have to make the decision. I will vote SIG though. Good luck in your choice, you are going to need it!!

The big thing HK has over SIG is durability. I choose HK.

Its been running since April, but it has had good response.
Must be some kind of a glitch in the system though, SIG is ahead by a few votes right now. We'll have to have them check out the vote tallying thing-a-ma-jig. Shake

I guess this is a mout point cause I already made this decision.
I went with the HK USP 40 over a Sig P229. One little story bout the HK. I went through a police academy and used my HK to qual with. During range time we had to do a drill where your partner loaded spent shell casings along with live rounds in your magazine to simulate/cause a misfeed. Well my HK cycled and put into battery the spent casings, no stovepipes or any other misfeeds. I'm pretty dingdanged impressed with my HK.

SIG hands down. A cocky little guy I know has a HK MK23 that go for, oh $2000:barf:, and I out shoot myself with the SIG 226 every time VS using his HK. HK handguns are lame. HK is more of a SMG and assault rifle company. They don't know wus up with handguns, obviously-and until now I proved it to myself, I was all tha way for HK, too! They are eclipsed by the fine SIG SAUER, a true handgun!

Love both. Voted H&K, but God I love Sig's too. Those are my two favorite handgun manufacturers out there.

I own an USP and a USPc in .40 and I really like them a lot. I've never handled a Sig that I didn't like overall, but I went with HK 'cause they are lighter and I like the V1 manual of arms (Cocked and Locked, or even DA/SA and locked with a safety action just like the SA C&L). Just like everyone else says, go to the range and try both out, they are both great, so it is a matter of hand fit and personal preference.

I find it interesting that most of the people who own both (in this poll) chose their HK over their Sig, for whatever reason. I laugh at those who say Glock is better than both. I have never had any experience with a Sig pistol, so I have nothing to say about them. I would never be one of those who say that something is "lame" because I know nothing about it. I know that Sigs have a great reputation for being a fine, well made pistol. They did not get that reputation from advertising. When shopping for my latest pistol recently, I chose the USPc .40. I have to say it is the finest pistol I have ever held and shot.

Sig vs HK
I have owned Sigs in the past. And I hope to purchase an HK USP Compact in 45 in the near future. I used to own a Sig P220 & GSR 1911. I have sold them both. The P200 just didn't feel right the more I shot it and it always shot low. The GSR, great gun, but. The lever that engages the firing pin for the beavertail safety sheared off twice both times I shot it. It also fired low and Sig did fix the lever both times. However, when you pay that much for a gun, you expect it to work. I believe the shearing happened because the specs on the Sig GSR were too tight. For a 1911, when it comes to accuracy, you want a nice hand fitted slide to frame fit. But too tight a fit is bad. So I am now the proud owner of a Taurus PT1911, I like the feel, features, and it does not fire low.
For CCW I am going with an HK compact. Just me two cents. |

+1 for SIG
IMO both are overprices esp. HK
But I'd take SIG or Beretta over HK for sure.

I prefer the SiG. I have a P220 and the only malfunction I get is due to bad magazine springs. I can't remember any stove pipes and I've shot that gun many times. The only time it really jammed up was near the end of the day at the gun range and it locked down pretty bad. Slid up into the barrel and I couldn't rack or eject the clip. That was tricky. But that was after like 700 rounds so there's your problem.

I really like SIGs. But with the grip I use to shoot semis, my thumb holds the slide release down, so that the slide won't lock back after the last rounds. That's why I prefer HKs. But they are both great firearms.

It would be very difficult to "prove" anything without conducting some sort of study with a very large sample size of guns from each manufacturer. HK guns have a reputation for reliability and durability, but so do guns from Glock and Sig. People will say what they want and sometimes cite a torture test, anecdote, or point out how Agency XYZ is issued a certain brand/model of gun...but I'm not aware of any concrete evidence that says this gun is any more durable than that gun. It really just comes down to opinion, personal preference, and luck.
