Depends on the rate of twist of your barrel and what you intend to shoot.
There should be a marking on the barrel in front of the front sight with a marking such as 1/7 1/9 1/12...that is the twist rate. Then tell us what distance and what your expectations are. ? Who made the rifle ? I would stay away from Wolf if you want accuracy & reliability. Federal Gold Metal Match is very accurate as is most Black Hills ammo. Welcome to the forum ! |

loads for 5.56mm/.223 caliber
I haven't loaded for rifle for years, but when I did, 21 grains of 4198 or 23 grains of 4395 behind a 55 grain bullet worked pretty good.
This was in a Colt SP1 with the 1/12 rifling.

Here is the recipe for the load that I have had the best grouping with so far.
.223 Rem., Sig 556 SWAT 16" 1in7" barrel. 69gr Sierra HPBT Matchking 25.3gr Varget, Win. Small Rifle Primer .007" below flush Remington Brass trimmed to 1.750" chamfered and deburred. Primer hole deburred on inside of case. C.O.A.L. 2.260" 7/8" group at 100yrds from a front rest only. Average of 3,005 f.p.s. All shots within 15 f.p.s. faster or slower. I assume no responsibility for anyone recreating or using this recipe and having possible injury or death occurr. Look up Midwayusa video on how to figure out the twist in a barrel |
