Montana Gold Bullet Inc. Yes or No?

I want to load 40S&W. Im looking to buy 1000rnds, 155 or 165grn FMJ without breaking the bank. Montana Golds price seems below most others that I could find, So who has experiance with them (any caliber). Who else would you recomend?

I hardly shoot jacketed rounds unless I'm breaking in a barrel. I've shoot some 6,000 rds with Montana and it is well worth it. But I swicthed to a local supplier in my area:

Cheaper than Montana even for you with shipping.
If you don't want to break the bank shoot lead, the only way to go. you can get 2,000 for the price of 1,000.

I've shot around 22,000 Montana Gold and still have around 8000 on hand. They are very good bullets, great accuracy. The people at the factory are wonderful and easy to work with.

Another option is to buy just the brass and reload it yourself. Used brass is cheaper than new ammo.

I load Montana Gold bullets exclusively - complete metal jacket when I can get them - in 9mm, .40 , .45 acp , .38spl, .357 mag and .44 mag

For my .40 S&W I load their 180gr CMJ with 4.3 grains of TiteGroup. Its a great load.

They're nice people - and the quality of their bullets is much higher than West Coast or Rainier Ballistics based on the variations I've seen by weighing a handfull of bullets. But West Coast and Rainier are cheaper.

Cheaper is a relative term. I was in Cabela's yesterday for reloading equipment, and wandered over to check out the Rainier and Berry's prices. Holy crap, this is getting ridiculous. Rainier used to be the old standby cheap ones, $36 for 500 9mm bullets. Not any more.

Bulk buys of lead bullets online seems to be about the cheapest route these days.

No, they're jacketed...very hard jackets, in fact. I've shot a bunch of them. They're higher than I want to pay for now, but I've found them to be extremely accurate. Made the mistake of trying to cannelure some of them and quickly wore out the cutter on my canneluring tool.

I've used 9000 of the 40cal 155g JHP and don't see any reason not to buy more. The people at MG are great and the product in excellent.

Their phone number is (406) 755-2717, they apparently no longer use the 800 number since virtually everyone in America now has free long distance anyway.

BTW, why not just order online?

This thread is over 2 years old!

You should open a new thread with that question.

Montana Gold

I want to buy some Montana Gold also but have read some forums were they were saying they had bought Montana Gold bullets that were not round.
I have found a cheaper price for jacketed bullets at Roze Dist. it is the retail outlet for Zero brand bullets. 1000 230gr 45ACP $117.00 and they pay shipping and handling. The problem is you have to read there catalog carefully to be sure they have what you want. If they show it is available you will get it in about a week if its not available a month or longer. They have never shown jacketed hollow points as available that's why I want to buy Montana Gold.

Your lucky if you ever see what you want in stock for zero. Use nothing but MG now in pistol CMJ or FMJ.

pierced 456,
I've shot more Montana Gold Bullets than I can count and have never had a problem with them. A friend of mine will buy their 'seconds' and load those and they shoot great too.
Many of our local sporting goods stores sell the MGB and can't keep them on the shelf in any caliber. For an inexpensive bullet I don't think you'll have a problem with them. And I don't say that because I live right down the road from their production location either!!

Montana Gold Bullets

Montana Gold Bullets are GREAT! I load my 10mm hot with 'em and they load/shoot really well. IMHO, I find they have the best prices of ANY jacketed (or plated for that matter) bullet companies because their price includes free shipping.
