Uzi Micro pistol with stock - short barreled rifle?

I've always wanted a Micro Uzi since I was an 80's kid. I see lots of them on Gunbroker, the semi-auto only pistol, going for reasonable prices. Don't see many at the gunshows anymore. So if I put a side-folding stock on it like this:

is it considered a "short barreled rifle" and need any additional ATF paperwork? I'd never even heard about that before, but I asked a guy at a gunshow about a MAC-10 with top folding stock and he said it was illegal to own one without a permit. Thanks!

Yes, adding a stock to a pistol turns it into a short barreled rifle and requires ATF approval and tax stamp.

Shouldn't stop you from filling out the paperwork and pursuing your dream.

I agree fill out the paper work. As soon as i'm 21 i'm applying for all the paper work i can fillout, so i can have silencers etc. and a FFL. Just found out this summer Sheriff wont sign off on a silencer in my county. Not even for Law Enforcement. What a D0uche.

They do sell 16" barrels for the UZI I believe, my grandfather was in this situation and just got a 16" barrel and bada bing, you got a legal uzi with a stock. But since you said mini uzi Im not sure if they'd offer a 16" barrel on such a gun but its worth checking the web to see if you dont wont to have to get a tax stamp.
