Mossberg 590 heat shield

I've got a Mossberg 590SP (model #50663) with the ghost ring sights and 20" barrel on which I'd like to install a heatshield. I've seen pics (on Mossberg's website), and one video on youtube with the gun set up like this, but manual states that a heat shield won't fit over the front sight. Anybody know the real answer?

Thanks.

From what I recall, it won't fit without a bit of "manipulation" as the 590 barrel is thicker than the 500 barrel (for which the heatshield is made).

I've heard of people fitting it, but I've also heard of people scratching their barrels if they were not careful.
