Remington Nylon 77 (Mohawk 10C) Feeding Problem

I have an old Remington Nylon 77, also known as the Mohawk 10C .22 caliber semi automatic rifle. It was discontinued in the 1970's I believe, and there is a problem with it. I have an old magazine for it and it doesn't seem to ever want to feed from it.

About a year ago, I ordered two magazines for it online, and tried those two out and it still didn't feed. I have always just dropped a round in the chamber and used it as a single shot. I have taken it apart and cleaned it a few times, still no progress. Any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Probably the magazine latch. They came from the factory with several shims that look like flat washers under the latch screw, and lots of folks took them out, resulting in improper feed height. Many fed just fine anyway.

FWIW, the Remington Model 77 was the last of the Nylon series, they were discontinued in the early 1980s.

Thanks!

Appreciate the reply, but is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

You might browse on the internet looking for a website for collectors if you have no luck here. I have a nylon 66. I just put a smattering of oil on it and wipe it down and have had no trouble. These are highly collectible and some folks are fanatics. You need to contact one of those fanatics. That's my suggestion. Good luck.

I've got one of those with the exact same problem, bullet missed the chamber upon feeding and the gun jams. Came to the solution than it was the mag, but new mag didn't help.

That is interesting about the magazine shims, I might just have to look into that.

What do the shims look like? Do you know the approx thickness? Might be able to make a substitute.

Possibly some help.
Here's the factory gunsmith's service manual for the Nylon 10, 11, and 12.

I had a 10c and found the magazine guide rod loose. A screw driver fixed the problem in about 5 minutes.
