Can someone help me find some information on a High Standard?
I recently acquired a High Standard Mod 103 in absolutely mint condition. It has a 6 3/4 inch barrel and the left side of the frame is marked "US". Serial number is in the 1135600 range.
The grips appear to be dark walnut with golden High Standard medallions.

My pistol smith friend advises me not to shoot it, but to sell it and buy a shooter. He says one in this condition is quite rare as most of these pistols were very well used, then destroyed by Uncle Sam rather than being rebuilt or restored.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me or perhaps tell me where I might uncover some information on this pistol?

Thanks in advance for your help.
