I know this is suppose to be the lattest and greatest, but does anyone else think it would be better in 35cal? You could have heavier (and slightly bigger dia.) bullets while still maintaining good velocity in a short action rifle.

Winchester is already working on it. The 300WSM is the first of a series of bullets using the same case. I believe that a 27 caliber is next, followed by some larger diameter bullets.

I've thought of it, too, but I was wondering what the relative case capacities where with other .35's- .35 Whelen, .35 Rem Mag, etc.

Hey Spectre, that is something that does seem odd to me
I thought Rem already tried this idea, with a belted case, with the 6.5 Rem mag & 350 Rem Mag. From what I understand you can get 2300-2400 fps with a 250 grain bullet in the 358 Win. And with the 350 Rem by loading to very high pressure like Cooper does, flattened primers & long loading, you can squeak up to 2500 fps. If loaded to near the same pressures, which should be safe enough in bolt rifles since people convert actions from the 30-06 sized cartridges to 7mm Mag & 300 Win [which should make the action weaker not stronger], would you even see a 100 fps difference between the 358 Win & 350 Rem or 35 WSM? |

Wildcatted .300WSM
Funny you mention this, but there is an article in this month's Guns and Ammo about just this thing!
They necked it down to .22, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, and up to .338 and .350.
