I'm in the process of purchasing a Colt Detective Special. The present owner tells me it was made in the '70s but he's not sure of the exact year. All the info I have to go on is this pic-

and the serial #, 8791xx

I'd appreciate any help towards dating this sweet looking revolver.

I KNEW that little gem would find a new home....
Was tempted to adopt it myself!

Daniel, not doubting you or the year 1965... lets just say I'm as confused as ever! Its not a big deal about the year as I'd just like to have the info for my records. Thanks for your time.

Daniel and sw627pc, thanks very much for the info. Only reason I was a litte skeptical was the present owner thought his friend bought the DS in '75 or '76. Ooops, wrong decade
