Training ... Where??????????

I live on the North end of the Golden Gate Bridge. In Gods country, where the liberals ride tall and guns are the root of all evil. I can take my shotgun to a range where there is a single patterning lane for shotguns at a fixed distance. Where can I legally go to practice multiple targets and distances and the like? Where in Northern California can I shoot? Are there certain counties where you can shoot on public land? I'm getting tired of the confines of a public range.
