Looking to added new Revolver to my collection.

I am thinking about adding another revolver to my firearms collection. Below is a list of the firearms I currently own. I am leaning towards the S&W 460V mostly because it will shoot the following rounds .460 Magnum, .45 Colt and the .454 Casull. I am looking for any suggestions or comments.

Uberti 1873 Cattleman (Replica) in .45 Colt
S&W Govenor .45ACP/.45 Long Colt and .410
S&W Model 629 .44 Magnum 4"Barrel
Kimber 1911 Super Carry Pro HD .45acp
Ruger SP101 .357 Mag 3" Barrel
Ruger GP100 .357 Mag
M&P .40 Full Size
M&P 9mm Full Size
M&P 9c
M&P 22
Desert Eagle .50AE

I'm partial to a 41mag, say a S&W model 57 or 58 blued 4in.

I say if you reload...go for it. If you reload you won't have to worry about shooting .45 Colt and .454 outta it, cause you can just load down .460 brass. If you don't reload and think you'll mostly shoot .45 Colt outta it, don't bother. Get yourself a nice .45. If you don't reload, realize that most factory ammo is $2-$3 a pop and is not easy to find everywhere. If you do reload, you'll find this really makes the most outta the caliber.

That is a pretty nice array of pistols you have there

Secondly...
Kinda what buck said, but with the reservation that I have a love of versatility. And have looked at the .460 seriously, several times. I'm assuming your going to be using this hand held 12 pound field gun for hunting?

If you were planing on shooting mostly .45 colt out of it and you don't reload. I would also just go with a nice .45 colt.....personally speaking. What model Cattleman do you currently have? Barrel length?

I have the 1873 Cattleman Brass NM with a 4 3/4" barrel with walnut grips.

Everybody should buy what they want....

and the S&W XVR isn't a bad gun ....but it is a "beast" to shoot.../ and expensive, like other response said above. I saw a box in a local store the other day of .460 S&W Mag ( 20 rds at $ 50 ) ...and .454 Casull was about the same price.../ of course if you reload, that will come down significantly ...

When it comes to heavy calibers like this ....460 S&W mag, .454 Casull, .475 Linebaugh, .500 Wyoming Express....etc....I think you're better off with a nice single action weapon ...like a Freedom Arms revolver.

None of the heavy calibers are inexpensive to shoot...unless you reload / but as long as you know that ....have some fun with it !

I want a S&W 627, its an Smith & Wesson Performance Center 8 shot .357 magnum. I want the 5" barrel version. Has the same weight as your Model 629.

You get a performance center handgun at about the same or less of the price of the 460v. Holds more bullets, probably cheaper to shoot, easier to shoot. Personally I don't have to worry about being attacked by a bear enough to need a 460, your needs might be different.

They also make a 627 V-Comp that has a compensator, its a bit more costly.
