Mossberg 500, is this normal?

To you guys with mossberg 500's, can you take a glance at the inside of yours? Is this normal? This is a 20 gauge mossberg 500 looking inside from the ejections port. You can see it is a little rough, like something has been wearing against it. It feels pretty jagged for lack of a better term, its certainly not smooth. I'm going to guess this gun has 700-1200 rounds though it, although its really just a guess.

Any input is appreciated. sorry for the bad pictures, I'm not a photographer and I couldn't win with or without the flash.

Looks normal and ok, to me.
Betcha' your insides look a lot worse.
Mossberg makes good, inexpensive work horses, not thoroughbreds.

Maybe the picture are worse than I thought, the part stamped "E8" is pretty rough. Its not just the finish that has worn off, its actually rubbing against something and making it rough.

I'm not TOO concerned about it because the gun shoots fine. I just wanted to see if someone else's is like this.

Perhaps it would help if you could better identify the marks. For instance, where they are located in reference to the top of numeral "8" or the head of the screw.

I see some wear on the ejector and a little wear on the area just under it. Pull the bolt out and see if there is a high spot on it on the corresponding lower edge. On the side of the bolt where it would be rubbing the ejector you should see a bright spot with corresponding directional marks. That should tell you where you are making contact. With only those pictures to go on, we will have a time trying to go much further than that.

While mine has considerably fewer rounds down range, I see no such wear on it. Sorry, but that's about as far as I can go with your question.

if it is shooting and you feel safe with it shoot it till it quits or untill you are to old to shoot ide bet on the latter. i may eat them words but i have shoot mossbergs till they are rattle traps and they still shoot fine i only retire them because i feel they are wornout never cause they quit

Well thanks for the help. Its the wear directly above the "E8" stamped on the part. The gun works, so I'm not really worried about it.

Although it does jam a fair amount. I don't know if its because of the wear or if its just me short stroking it.

Define Jams? Fails to kick out the old shell and jams the new one underneath, fails to load the new one, etc. The cause of one could be the symptom or cause of the other.

I pump the action back and the shell doesn't eject, it comes off the bolt/extractor and falls into the receiver on top of the new unfired shell.
