Thinking about getting an M&P 9
Anyone have anything to say about them? I've heard the good and the bad. I am not up to date on what's what anymore.
So this will mainly be a CCW gun. (Yes I carry full size, always have ) Need more capacity than what I've been carrying. Now here's my thing, times are tough. I can't outright buy it right now. I went from 20 guns to about 14 now. I don't want to sell anymore. I want a main carry again, my PPQ and Glock gen 4 19 went bye bye and I want more capacity than 8+1 with the P220. So here's what I can do. Trade something(s) I have for an M&P 9. I have two Glocks on the chopping block. But I'm not sure... What would you guys do? |

Has the accuracy problem with the M&P 9mm been corrected?
I'd check on that before buying. |

Googled that
Oh man...didn't hear about that one. Heard about the trigger issues. Those have been fixed apparently.
Accuracy? Let me Google that. EDIT: Well that sucks.... Horses on the forum, open your mouths. Say it isn't so. |

Constantine, I think you know my opinions on the M&P. I'd recommend opting for the Pro - especially if you're going to carry it. The factory night sights are nice, and the trigger is better - just run through that little trigger bar polish that I posted last night and you'll be good to go. I'm really liking mine.

So yours has been good? I'm thinking about getting the pro. It has a 5' barrel right? Comes with night sights..That's my kind of deal. I might stop by the shop this weekend to see what they have and bring over my collateral trades just in case. It's dangerous when I go into shops though. God knows what I can end up leaving with. |

They make the pro with a 5" barrel, but I got the standard 4.25" model. The balance is perfect.
I'm actually hitting the range today. I'll try to snap a pic of a target or two - unless I'm just really off my game!

The accuracy issues are real, although somewhat overblown.
Some people say it's only the 5-inch Pro models that are affected, others say it's any full-size 9. Doesn't happen with all, but enough to be a consideration. Doesn't really raise it's head until you shoot at distance--25 yards and out. Mine (circa 2010) is a pretty good shooter at 25 yards--with heavier bullets. 15 yards and in, it's good with everything. |

Malice, nice pics! Nicer guns! lol..Love it..Didn't know they had an M&P 9 Pro Series in 4.25 I like it. I really want it to come with night sights. I don't like a CCW / Nightstand gun without them. I'm used to that.
Snap a few pics, that'll be awesome. If you're off on your game let me know O_O I love the low bore axis on that M&P My search for the best CCW gun hasn't stopped -___- it's been years and years already. Quote:
If it's over blown, it might be hype or for a reason. Last time I ignored that..I ended up with a gun that loved ejecting brass to my face no matter what new and true parts were in it. So I'm a little more weary now. I just called the LGS. They don't have it |

So if there's a big issue with 115gr and 124gr, that's going to affect me. Can people post links or something? |

M&P is my favorite poly.
I have the .40, never a single failure of any kind. I JUST got the 9mm. Takedown lever won't stay down w/o constant pressure. AND it's keyholing…3-4 out of 10-12 shots…...i'll be sending it back to S&W today with a told return time of 3-6 weeks. Still no failure to fire/eject/etc. though which is great.

The accuracy issues are real but they aren't as bad as some make them out to be. Last I heard Apex pinned the problem to the barrel/slide lockup and they were working on a fix. My M&P9... I don't notice it. But the issues are mainly past 25 yards and I can't remember when I last shot farther out than that.
Someone might confirm or deny this but last I heard S&W was not doing anything about the accuracy issues via warranty because it was in spec? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong there but I recall reading that over at M4carbine. The M&P is a fantastic choice if you are looking at Polymer. |

Constantine, Here's a target from my lunch trip to the range. This one is 15 rounds at 30 feet/10 yards.
I was shooting in groups of 5 and then reloading. I only had one box with me so I didn't want to burn through it super fast. 115gr USA Ammo reloads. The silhouette target in the back was left by the previous guy. He was shooting 12g slugs... I just left it up and taped my targets to it. Those are 1" rings. Pulled a couple of them, but wasn't too bad.

This was another target. Just a 5 shot group.

MP 9mm
Constantine, I am in Miami and have the MP9C, the pro and the Julie Galowski it is also a 5".
I have only seen the Pro 9mm in 5" and that is what I have. Out of the box mine is and was fantastic and have zero issues of any kind. All my family members shoot better with the Pro 5", no comparison. The 9c trigger was a bit griity and the apex trigger kit solved that issue however trigger pull came down so much that now wife does a double tap sometimes unintentionally. Go to one of the ranges and shoot all of them before you decide if it is going to be your primary carry. Way to big of a gun to fit in my pants (esp shorts) I love the SW body guard 380 loaded with Cor Bon for my wallet pocket. I have seen no issues on the pro and really love it. Can't remember price differences but with all my changes and add ons to my 9c it is around double what I paid for the pro. Shoot the pro you should like it. |

I've heard nothing about the accuracy, but have heard about the trigger reset thing with the older ones (since changed to the Shield trigger).

I've never heard of the accuracy issues with M&P's. If they were that bad, then you'd hear about them like Glock Kabooms and Brass-in-your-face problems, but you don't.
I've owned 2, M&P9 and M&P40 fullsize, and both were accurate and problem-free out of the box. I also own a Glock19, and shot many other Glocks. I've heard more Glock problems than I have with M&P's. 14guns isn't that bad at all. Sell one handgun that costs around $450-500 and buy a M&P. |

Thinking about getting an M&P 9
I've decided I'm going to get one. The pro series 9mm with night sights. As soon as a deal in my other thread is either a yay or nay.
I'll take the chance. Why not right? I'm sure they're great and I've heard good things from people directly. Uncle malice, good shooting! My fellow Miamian! PM me! |

I look forward to your impressions once you get it and fire it a bit. That exact gun is at the top of my next gun list.

I traded my 9c for a dirtbike last month. My goal now is a full sized M&P in 9 or 45. Something is telling me another 9 since I have some 17 round mags and holsters.

Great guns. Meh trigger. New ones may be better?
They do get better the more they are shot. |

Re: Thinking about getting an M&P 9
How accurate is accurate? For laughs a went ahead and shot at 50 yards standing free hand with crappy tulammo. I was kind of surprised when I walked up to the target... I did do the sear reshape and polished and smoothed everything related to the trigger though. The reset thing is a non factor to me.
