458 Win Mag with 350 gr. "X" Bullet
The Maz:
I have a load worked up for my 458 win mag with a 350 gr. Barnes "X" Bullet that produces one hole at 50 yards. Case: Remington Primer: 215M Powder: IMR 3031 Charge: 74.0 gr Bullet: 350 gr Barnes "X" Velocity: 2416 fps COAL: 3.315" Shoots in the same hole at 50 yards with fixed 4 power scope. Shot it last week to check scope (gun sling swivel broke and dropped the gun). The only "safe" backdrop I had was the backside of an uprooted tree stump. I dug the bullet out and measured penetration. An amazing 16" of penetration into red clay and shale mix. I was impressed. Will also shoot through a 10" poplar tree. |
