Model 70 Magazine Spring

I have a 1964 Model 70 in . 225 Win. Cal. with a broken Magazine spring and haven't a clue where to find one . The mag box and follower might be one of a kind , just for the .225 Win. . The mag box is tapered on the front end , and the spring is riveted to the follower ! Any help in locating one of these would be greatly appriciated ! I have visited GunPartsCorp and Wisners , neither list anything for the .225 Win. .

I think one could be easily made from a M1903 or Mauser magazine spring. There should be no problem in drilling a hole to rivet on the follower. Another possibility is to cut off a spring from an M14 or FAL magazine spring.

Magazine springs are not usually ammunition critical, though the followers sometimes are, but if I understand correctly, you need to replace the spring, while keeping the follower.

You should be able to use the same spring and follower as the 220 Swift or 22-250. Winchester made very few unique parts, they liked to use the same parts in lots of things.

You are likely correct. One source lists the .225 Winchester and .22-250 together for both follower and spring. Another does the same, but only on guns with s/n after the million mark. If it were me, I'd just buy a spring for any of the big .22 centerfire Post-64s and pop-rivet it on to the follower.
