Safe dryers
What is your favorite safe drying system, and why?
I have the Browning dessicant type which recharges in the oven for 3 hours at 240 deg F. Seems to work ok, but I don't really like messing with it. I want to switch if there is something that seems better, but not until my friends on TFL have advised me on which direction to go. Thanks guys (and gals).....

There are really only two types of moisture control.
The type that you have actually removes moisture. This type does require periodic maintenance, but it really does control the humidity. The second type is heat. Some guys use lights, or you're probably familiar with the electric dry rods. These do not remove moisture, but increase the air temperature within the safe. This raises the dew point. The nice thing about these is that you don't have to maintain them. You plug them in and that's it. When it's all said and done, you may even need a combination of the two methods. The only way you'll know is to buy a hygrometer and determine what your moisture levels really are. You want to aim in the 45% to 55% range.

My Golden Rod has been working for over 20 years, and I've never had any rust on anything kept in the safe.
