New (old) Guy from Georgia

Hi All - sorry I did not see this forum earlier. I did an intro in the Pistol section.

Been around a long time, but still learning. Hope to learn some more here.

Thanks for having me.

Glad to be here

My history has me joining the Navy in '72 and foregoing College for a while. Leaving the USN, I set out to join the PBA tour but got married instead. I've worked in both collars, blue and white. Done security in & out of the military. Spent most of my time in retail sales, store management, and as a wholesale purchasing agent. Divorced after 23 years of marriage. Am currently legally blind due to an undetected episode while on active duty. Live alone and stay involved in my local community.

Following 30 years of self proclaimed abstinence from weapons ownership, recent violent developments have forced me to regain arms for self & home defense.

I presently own two guns. Ruger KP 345 in .45 ACP w/rail mounted 190 lu light with ten rd mags and Foibus tactical holster, & a Mossberg SPX 930 w/Nordic arms accessories, Choate aftermarket stock and 200 lumen rail mounted pressure switch operated light. Both weapons now have 10 + 1 round capacities.

my current desire is for a longer barrled more ergonomic pistol. Berreta Storm SD, HK USP, and some others are on my short list.

I require on each weapon a rail mounted light for target acquisition and/or aiming purposes.

I've not yet decided on which pistol to get, nor have I decided to obtain a CC permit. Should I get one I"d likely use the Ruger 345 as the carry gun sans lighting.

I see a wealth of wisdom on these pages and am quite happy I've decided to join the forum. Hopefully I can add as much as I glean from The Firing Line.

Thanks to all..

New guy here from Idaho. Still going over old posts so I don't ask something that has already been asked or post the wrong area.
Mainly hunting with rifle for deer, elk, wolves, but decided to start carrying.

Hi forum

I currently own three guns: an EAA Witness steel full size 10mm, a Taurus PT92 vintage 1986, and my grandfather's Remmington model 11. I sold my 1911, my M14, my Buckmark, my Mossberg police gun, and my Marlin 22 in a financial crisis in 1997. It is the Remmington that brings me to this forum. The gun is a Browning Auto 5 copy, 5 round tube, 2 3/4 chamber. I had the broken firing pin replaced when Mom gave it to me in 1988. I haven't discharged it since the mid 90s, but I'm sure it still works. It has a poly choke, which my grandfather insisted ruined the gun. He was obviously as bad a marksman as I. The gun's stock is chipped on the top of the grip, just like every used example of this gun I have ever seen. Where can I get replacement wood? I can refinnish the steel, but not the stock. Also, the poly choke: what setting to fire a slug?

Hello everyone! I'm Joey and I love guns. I live in a small missouri town and I am a LEO here. I may ask a lot of questions about fixing a gun or some new part I want but I dislike going into a project blind so don't mind me.

Wow, I looked all over for an "Introduction" forum and didn't find one. Now I know why. We've got an introduction thread.

I'm a SoCal resident. Most days I love that. A lot of days I hate it.

I work 14 to 16 hour days but love it.

I blog a lot during those hours. It's not to hard to find me.

I've lurked around here a bunch over the last few years. A few other forums as well. I'm finally joining the discussion on a few I enjoy reading the most.

Anyway, hello!

Las Vegas shooter

I will likely be only an occasional visitor, maybe not. I mostly use forums to find solutions to problems and to get advice. I shoot 50 BMG in competition but just got a Savage .338 Lapua Magnum so I'll have questions about reloading that. I own a lot of guns because they are fun and I enjoy building AR15s from 'scratch'. I also shoot pistols and have a 12 year old who would rather play Halo than go to the range but I did get a smile the other day when I handed him a MP5 suppressed and asked if he wanted to shoot it. Hey all. Been hanging around a couple of days before I spotted this into thread. I'm just an old goat living out here here in the great midwest. Learned to shoot when I was 10, and been hooked ever since. There are few things I'd rather be doing then spending time at the range slinging lead down range. Just wish I could afford to do it more often. But I have this pesky thing called a wife, who keeps an equally pesky thing called a budget.

Don't have nearly as many guns as I'd like (see previous budget comment). I own four handguns and two rifles. Well, actually, it's five and one. I have a Henry Mare's Leg lever action. The ATF calls it a handgun. I call it a rifle. The other one is an AR-15 with a 20" barrel, so there's no gray area with that one.

I'm new to this forum but have been following it for some time. I'm a retired LEO, work part time in a gun store and spend my spare time in shooting sports, primarily cowboy action shooting.

I'm here looking for help with handguns. I've been hunting since I could shoot a .410, but handguns are complete foreign to me. It was a huge surprise to me when my wife said she wanted to get one about a month ago. Since then I've been doing a little research. A guy on a local hunting forum said he'd take us out and shoot his Kahrs and a couple Glocks. I will undoubtedly ask some silly questions so bear with me.

New member in OKC, OK

Hello,

Found this forum while trying to research one of my rifles on yahoo search. Very good news it answered my question, and I just had to join. Looking forward to learning, asking and maybe even answering some questions for other members. I consider myself a novice but have been around guns since around 12 years old so I do know a lot of the safety issues. Thanks for having me.

Hello From Oklahoma

Hello Everyone,

I'm James and I currently live in central Oklahoma. I've been shooting for as long as I can remember. My mother used to say that I cut my teeth on bullets.

I spent ten years in the US Army and it's Reserve Components as a Supply Specialist (Unit Armorer).

I have a rather large collection of guns, from the practicool to tacticool. I get excited over every type of firearm from sling shots to rocket lauchers, love to talk about all of them.

I hope to participate in many discussions.

New to the forums

Hello Everyone! My name is Kristina and I am a long-time hunter and range shooter. I started shooting when I was 12 and my dad put my through hunter's safety and rewarded me with my own Ruger 10/22. I have hunted with muzzleloader and modern rifle, I got my first pistol (an SR-9) from my dad when I turned 21 (he may have spoiled me a bit after my two older brothers showed no hunting/gun interest). I now carry a Ruger LCP since Wisconsin recently passed the concealed carry law (I may have an obsession with Ruger).

In any case, my primary reason for joining the forum is that my dad passed away last August and I have inherited about 20 guns, some of which are older models that I'm not familiar with. I was wondering if there are any specific parts of the forum for gun identification or if I should just post in the specific handgun/rifle sections.

I'm very interested to read what others have to say on the forum and if anyone can assist me at all.

Hello! I'm new to the forum. 26 with a wife and two kids (a 6 year old girl and
1 year old boy...who acts like a gremlin). Raised in Houston, TX and currently live in Lubbock. If you're wondering about my username, it's a play on Kevin Spacey's character "Verbal Kint" from the AMAZING movie, "The Usual Suspects".

I currently own a 1st gen Glock 17 and a Weatherby Vanguard chambered in .308 Winchester with a Nikon ProStaff 3-9. However, I'm looking to expand my collection with a 1911. And maybe learning a few tricks of the trade on tactics and customization.

God Bless!

Clint

Howdy

Howdy everyone. Been hunting pretty much my whole life but have just now ventured into the world of reloading, mainly due to trying to save a little money from shooting so much. I have a conceal carry license for Arkansas. I normally carry my Walther PPS 9mm unless it is a warm day, then I carry a Ruger LCP .380. I mainly joined to try and get some good advice for a beginning reloader. Well that's about all I have to say.
