44,
I'm currently using 3.5gr of Win 231 behind 93gr Oregon Trail LRN bullets. They cycle perfectly (what doesn't in the Mak?), and have slightly less recoil than the Russian TCW or LVE ammo. Best of all, these reloads cost about $2.70 for 50, and shoot groups half the size of the Russian ammo! Haven't had a chance to chrono these loads yet, but should get to that in the next few weeks. I have had good results with the following load, among some others tried. WORK UP FROM BELOW, WITH CARE!!!!
3.6 grains Red Dot, Starline cases, for the most part, Winchester Small pistol primers, NOT THE MAGNUM PRIMERS. OAL .970-.975, Bullet is hard cast, sized .365". Pistol used is one of the Russian guns. Also used the same load in a Radom P-83. Seems fine in that pistol also. No signs of excess pressure in either pistol. Have not chronographed, but suspect that this is NOT a "midrange" load. |

Speer #13 contains loads for the Makarov for the 90 gr Gold Dot bullet (Speer # 3999) and a 95 gr FMJ-RN bullet (Speer #4375).
