How do you mark your magazines?

I'm looking to mark my mags. I want to distinguish between range and "duty" service and mark the mags individually to keep track of them, how many are left/full and so on. Also if I have any issues it should help get that mag out of the rotation.

I suppose my primary methods in considering are tape and paint. What type of tape or paint do you use and where do you apply it on the mag?

i number the bottom of my service mags with black paint marker, i use orange on my range mags because orange is fun (not to mention burnt orange is the color of my favorite college football team).

I use a Maroon paint marker and number them. I do it because it is the color of the best college football team... And because I happen to be on said school's shooting team

Reflective tape around the inside down by the base plate. Blue for my carry and white for the range.

Sharpies. I use silver on black magazines and black on stainless. Comes in handy since I have a Glock 20 and 21. If not marked where they can easily bee seen it is easy to mix em up.

I'd look into different color magazine pads. Blue for duty, red for carry or home defense or 2nd load choice, orange or green for training/match use.

I've seen Glock models but I'm sure you could find 92/96 series, 1911a1, M&P etc.

I scratch a number into the baseplate with a carbide scribe.

I use vinyl stick on letters & numbers. Much neater than my drunken spider scrawl!

After they sit for a week or so they're immune to solvents, they come in lots of sizes, shapes & colors so a single sheet will do you for severeal decades of mag marking. This is a rifle with obvious 1 1/4" marks on the side where its immediately visible, but you can go down to 1/2" ones in grey or even black for a low vis version. You can also mark on the floorplate for a more discreet effort.

If you want to change them a little lighter fluid will dissolve the adhesive without marking most surfaces.

I use a similar method but on a smaller scale. Being involved in electrical and instrument work, in a previous life, I use wire markers or tags. You can get them from any electrical supply house. They come in a pad or rolls. They are stick on and come in either numbers and letters. I also use them to mark my M/L Range-Rod. They hold tight and last a long time. .....
