Win. large rifle primers
Varget @ 50.5
Hornady 165 gr. SST's

4064 and 165 grain ballistic tips in my 18" semi-auto give me 1" groups.

You might want to buy a can of Varget. I don't reload for 30-06, but I have found Varget to be a great powder in .243, 270 WSM, 7MM Mag, 308, and 325 WSM. It just seems so consistent at whatever wight charge I use in all those different calibers. It gives about the same velocities as the H4350 but uses a few less grains. The charge weights are pretty close to 4064 for most applications, but the Varget seems a bit more accurate. I tried some 4831 in my 7MM Mag and it worked OK, but I didn't like the way it metered from my powder dispenser. Another shooter told me that is why they came out with 4831 SC, it has smaller granules to meter better.

But Varget has become my go-to powder in most of my rifles that shoot anything in the 2800-3000 fps range.

I have had the same results as Doodle Varget is the most universal and most accurate consistently I've ever tried (across the board)

165 Sierra GK; 46.0 gr. Win748; CCI LR primer; mixed military brass. Cycles just fine in M1 and meets pressure curve limitations. Shoots better than I do.

currentlty i have some BL-c(2) so that i can load light bullets up to the larger ones.

i also have some accur 2700 on the way,

also im shooting out of a sporterized 1909 mauser action, with a 2 groove 1903 springfield barrel, a custom job by santa fe arms. just an interesting bit of information. (anyone have any input on this gun?)

i would like some of your input on what would be a better powder, should i order something else for the 165 grain bullets i will probably order? i was thinking of h414, but that seams alot like the accur 2700.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

Using 168 gr bullets, IMR 4064, H380 & W760 works for me.
