Does Anyone Know The Expansion Properties of Sellier & Bellot Tokarev Ammo?
My Polish Tokarev came in the mail the other day. I love it. Here in Canada there was no need for a crappy aftermarket safety, and no import stamps either. It looks just like it did in '54
So I've got some modern Sellier & Bellot 7.62x25 ammo, as well as a vintage box of corrosive Czech ammo. I haven't fired either yet. Both are FMJ and the Czech stuff may or may not be steel core. They look about the same. Now the original ammo for these is known for whizzing through living targets with no appreciable expansion. They were designed for armored targets. If that's what they're good at, then that's what they're good at. But I haven't found any info on whether the modern factory ammo shares the exact same properties. Anyone know? |

S&B Tokarev ammo is full metal jacket ammo, just like the old stuff. It's not going to expand either.

Wolf Gold JHP is what you want if you want expanding ammo:

and it is doubtful that even 7.62X25 JHP will expand with out hitting something solid. At the time 7.62X25 was developed body armor was not in general use, like the 30 Luger and the 30 Mauser that it was copied from, it was designed to make holes in human size targets, not any type of armor.
