H & R 16 gauge single shot...

H & R 16 gauge single shot shotgun. Was hoping that someone would know the year it was made. No. A982015 28" barrel and From barrel tip to end of stock = 43"
Side reads:
Harrington and Richardson Arms Co.
Bay State
Worchester, Mass USA

Top of Barrel reads:

Thanks for any info you can give me!!! This gun was given to me from my Grandfather, which was given to him from his Grandfather. Thank you

I don't know that it's of any help to you, but I own a H&R Bay State Arms .410 single with a 4-digit serial number, that was made ca. 1917.
It has a nickled receiver with a blued barrel that has the same "CHOKE" marking atop it:

Welcome to TFL.

From the serial number posted, your shotgun is either a #5 or a #8, manfactured in 1940.
