Opinions on my new O/U

After looking for awhile I bought a Beretta 686 Onyx O/U "Ducks Unlimited Edition" in 20 ga.It is NIB unfired.

I had originally wanted a 12 ga. but after picking up the 20 and absolutley loving the way it felt and swung I bought it.

I plan on doing some sporting clays,trap,or skeet and also taking it on my next trip to South Dakota.

Did I make the right choice???

With the right ammo, the 20 will do any of the clay games with equal aplomb as the 12. If it fits you correctly, it will do it with ease and comfort.

Great shotgun with a longtime reputation for reliability and endurance. As long as it fits you, you should be very happy.

If you love the way it feels and swings, and are happy with the price, that's what matters. Plus, I don't think you can ever go wrong with Beretta. They make superb weapons across the board.

IMHO, as far as the gun goes, a definite yes -- for it being the gun for you, you'll know only after you've shot it for a while. I've been happy with my Beretta 682x; but, I had some initial stock work done.

Since the 20ga 686 is the world's Gold Standard for 20ga doubles, I would say you did.

You bought a fine gun and don't worry about the 20 G, a lot of people don't shoot a 12 G as well as a 20G because of the recoil. When I was a cop I was a few pounds lighter at 215 and 6 foot tall. The recoil never bothered me but the were cops that were a lot bigger than me that had a hard to shooting the 12 G for yearly qualifications. The best gun is the one you can shoot accurately.

The only skeet I ever shot was a few rounds at yearly qualifications but I imagine that a 12 G can wear some people out after a long days worth of shooting.

Great choice in the Beretta. As far as gauge goes the 20 is great.

Terrible choice!

Lucky for you I happen to be sitting on a Mossberg pump here that I am willing to trade you.

While I personally do not own a Beretta you can not go wrong with that gun. Should work great for you. Worst case is find a guy to final fit it to you and you have a life time gun.

My 12 gauge White Onyx is a real workhorse target crusher. I also have and like an SKB O/U in 20 gauge that's close to 1.5 lbs lighter.

On Wobble, I get slightly better scores with the 20. Go figure. I bought it for a dove gun.

I believe you and your Beretta are about to make many fine memories......
