Which press? Lee Challenger or RCBS Partner?

I want to get a press to take to the range to seat bullets only. (223, 22-250). I want something small but it has to be accurate (hardly any play in the ram). I've narrowed it down to the above listed presses. Does anyone have any comments regarding them?

Thanks.

Get the RCBS. It has a lifetime warrantee...I doubt you'll need it, though.

For accurate, I'd pick an arbor press and Wilson seaters. It doesn't get much more accurate!
Of the two you named, no contest, the RCBS! IMHO, its the only small press to be taken seriously.
The only press I ever knew to spring out of alignment was a Lee. :barf: Lee makes a lot of good products, sadly, most are better designed than built...

Between the two, I'd definetly go the RCBS. Just my 2 cent opinion.

I have an RCBS Junior, the for-runner of the Partner, that I've loaded a zillion rounds with over the last twenty some years. It still works great. You should be able to pick one up on one of the online auctions for $25 or so. Forget the Lee.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND avoiding the LEE presses; their other gear is decent.

The RCBS will satisfy you longer.........

Thanks for all your recommendations. I'll definitely get the RCBS press.

I'd second the motion for the Wilson seaters and an arbor press. It works.

For seating with a single-stage press, using 7/8 dies, I'd go with either the Lee or the RCBS - you won't see a lot of difference either way. Even if you go with the cheapest C-frame Lee.

You need a small press anyway, right?
