Picture of a Ingot

Can someone post a close-up picture of an ingot.

I melted some ww tonight for the first time and am paranoid that I have contaminated my batch with zinc. I only smelted 10 lbs. My thermometer, molds, and supplies are arriving tommorow, so I was not able to monitor the temperature. I culled the wheel weights by hand throwing out the Zn and FE that I seen and even used the side cutters on most

My muffiin pan ingots look strange.

Oh.. and I read the Casting 101 sticky a few times before I even started.

post a pic of yours and we may be able to tell. sometimes the first couple ingots coming out of muffin tins look strange. They soemtimes come out looking like swiss cheese with craters all over them. If you smelted them all in one go you probably didnt get any zinc contamination. If you scooped them clips out after they started floating you are fine. You would have scooped out the zinc ww's with the clips. Zinc melts around 780*, iirc. Lead melts way lower than that. You should have no worries.

A drop of muretic acid will tell if theres any zinc present , it`ll dance for ya if it`s there.

Use safety equipment !!!
