Date of birth for my S&W M36

I just picked up a beautiful model 36.
Box, papers, etc.

Serial # 7J9802
I think early seventies. But I would like to know for sure.

Rodger, are you sure about the serial number? If your serial number is in fact J79802 then it was made in 1969-1970. If you didn't transpose a number and your serial number is really 7J9802 then my Smith and Wesson book list it as being no such animal.
