Zero bullit load data

I was given several hundred 40---180 grain TCFM bullits. I only have Winchester 231 powder. Can anyone recommend a starting load data for this bullit ? They are zero brand bullits. Don't know if I use lead or plated data for this type of bullit. Thanks in advance .

What are you loading?
If its for a 40 since they are full metal, as in no lead core use jacketed loads.

The TCFM is Truncated Cone Full Metal Jacket. If you look at the base you will probably see lead. If you do, use jacketed bullet data.

Every Zero bullet I've bought has been jacketed, not plated.

Go to Hodgdon's website for data. I'd begin with their 'Start' load for the 180gr XTP.

on edit: I forgot, but I've bought a lot of swaged Zero bullets as well.

But the shiny ones are all jacketed...

Sport45, you are right , they do have lead showing on the bottom. I'm gonna start somewhere around 4.6 grains. Thanks for your help !!!

I'd start around 4.1gr and work up from there.

In the future if you're in doubt about a load, using the data from the next heavier bullet will usually* be safe.

* Some powders should not be reduced bellow their recommended minimum load. H110/W296 comes to mind. W231/HP38 can be.

Since 4.1 is the published start load, that's where I'd be too.

That's where I started when I was loading Hornady HAP bullets in .40 S&W.
