I used Winchester Standard primers, for everything, for decades and I was perfectly happy with them until the post-election insanity rendered them unavailable. So I laid in some CCI and Remington, which worked OK too. I'll restock with Winchester and the next opportunity though, as I see the replacements as being no better.

I have happily used Winchester/CCI for the past 16 years. But during the "shortage", I was forced to use whatever primer that I could buy. During this time, I used Magtech SP, PMC SP, and Wolf LP (bronze/brass color) with good results. (Some people have posted a particular lot of Wolf SP not consistently firing due to harder primer cup (silver/nickel color) in the past year - I have not used Wolf SP so I can't comment).
As to Tula primers, I have used both SP/LP with good results. Some also reported that Wolf/Tula primers may be harder to seat fully. When I hand prime Wolf/Tula LP primers, I can confirm that this is true as it will require more effort to seat them fully at .004" below flush. As to Tula SP primer, I find the seating effort comparable to Winchester SP primer (OK, maybe a tiny bit more effort). So far, the general consensus seems to be positive with Wolf/Tula bronze/brass colored primers but silver/nickel colored SP primers have generated some concern over harder primer cups and occasional FTF issues. Due to this reason, I only use Tula SP for plinking/practice rounds and reserve Winchester SP for rounds that must go bang (match/SD/HD). I hope this helped. |

My favorite are Federals, but the packaging takes up a lot of extra space.
I also really like the old Wolf primers, back when the SP primers were brass-colored. The new nickel Wolf and Tula SP primers are harder to seat and take a harder strike to set them off (not a good combination.) I've had no problems at all with any batch of Wolf or Tula LP primers.

I have used Federal, Remington, Winchester and CCI SP primers and they all worked fine. As noted above the Federal packaging is huge, about twice as thick and in area. I don't have enough room for that. Remington has 1 1/2 and 5 1/2 SP primers and the 1 1/2 should NOT be used for .357SIG or .40. I suppose due to pressures.
I don't like stocking multiple "sizes" of primers when others like CCI and Winchester have one SP that works in everything but magnums, and they come in fairly small packages. Now that they are back on store shelves I generally buy CCI SP primers.

I tend to stick with CCI primers exclusively... and not because I like them so much better than others, but simply because I'm a creature of habit and when I asked the gun shop guy for three boxes of non-magnum small pistol primers back when I was 17 and just starting for the first time, CCI-500 is what he handed me... so that's what I keep buying.
Over the years, I've used Winchester, some Wolf and Federal. I haven't managed to buy any Remington primers in all these years. I will say that the new Winchester primers that are not nickel plated just don't run as smoothly in my equipment, so they aren't my favorite, but I wouldn't kick 'em out of bed for eating crackers. So it's CCI primers across the board for me, with no complaints.

I use mostly CCI small pistol, but also stock and use Winchester, Federal, and Remington.
I still refuse to buy Wolf primers (it ain't about where, it's about going bang).

I've used almost exclusively CCI and some small amount of Federal. If one is better than the other I can't tell. Recently I purchased Tula due to a sale. So far these have been perfectly reliable but have not been checked for ultimate accuracy in any of my guns. This afternoon I will be doing some testing in my favorite revolver to see there is any consistent difference in accuracy. To make it more fair I used two powder weights as I'm guessing that can make a difference.

Winchester is the brand i prefer for both small & large pistol primers. They are also my favorite for large rifle primers.

CCI is my first choice. Winchester is next and last. I wont fool with federal they're too soft for my liking and I never had good luck with Remington.
