short cases
I cut some 6.5 swedish as short as 2.125", when the trim to lenghth is supposed to be 2.155" What are the effects of using short brass? Can they be used for "foulers" or is it dangerous? Thanks, Jay

The short necks won't be dangerous to use, but your accuracy may suffer. The necks won't have as much purchase as the specified length will so bullets may not seat as straight as they should or hold as firmly. How come you trimmed them so short? I had the stop collar on my Forster trimmer loosen up one time and I overtrimmed 2 or 3 before I noticed. I think I just tossed them so I wouldn't get them mixed in with my other cases.

I wanted the cases to be less than 173.2 gr. If you're interested, 5 thousandths is equal to about .1 gr.

I guess I don't understand why you wanted the cases to weigh a certain amount. I don't know how it would effect much of anything as far as reloading or accuracy. The only thing I can think of was you were trying to get the cases to weigh the same. I sometimes weigh my cases if I am looking for very accurate loads in the thought the case capacity would be more alike if they weighed the same. I guess I really don't own a gun that this has made a difference in anyways.
