What are you going to "Try this weekend"?

Loading 223 cases or loading 223 with H-380 powder?

BYW that is not a "Taper" crimp, it is a Lee Factory Crimp die, that applies a "Collet" crimp.

I load mine a similar way, using a Lee Classic Turret. A couple of notes:

1. Use just about anything but Hornady one shot lube. Many have success with it, but I think just about every thread on here regarding a stuck case has involved that stuff. I use an RCBS Lube pad and their lube, I've never heard of anyone having trouble with it as long as they got the lube on the case.

2. I saw no mention of the fact that you need a double disk kit for the Lee Autodisk for loading rifle cases such as .223.

3. I actually installed a Powder Cop die in between my powder through die and my seating die, once it's properly set it removes the need for removing the case between steps unless there's a problem. Since you have to cycle the press the extra time somewhere anyway, it costs no time and saves some peace of mind.

And yes, please choose a powder that is faster than H380 LOL

4. I use a Hornady seating die on my turret press.. it has a sliding guide that helps the bullet stay straight on the case mouth, it is especially helpful for flat based bullets like 55 gr Hornady V-Max or Nosler Varmageddons.

Primer holder thingamajig? That's cute. He also didn't mention that the auto advance plastic head on the lee turret ram had to be removed to swage the primer pocket.

There's countless methods to do reloading. From the basic hammer powdered lee hand tool to the Dillon 1050 with auto bullet feeders and auto primer pocket swagers and case trimmers. This is just one more procedure.

How things change, What was popular the late 70s early 80s… is now nonexistent.
In 30 years you wont find data for 308 and Varget either….. just saying.

Or do all you case prep and priming in advance and use the Lee Classic Turret the way it was ment to be used.

Station 1 - powder measure - Rifle through die - riser, Station 2 - Powder Cop die, Station -3 Seating die & Station 4 - Factory Crimp die.

Put in your powder, check that the powder is correct, seat the bullet and crimp the case all at the same time. One complete round each time the die holder goes around.

^^ Pretty much exactly what my setup looks like. I can't think of a better way to do it without investing in a Dillon.

Tater, you can still find data for .303 and IMR3031, so I don't see Varget and .308 being impossible in 30 years...

I'm just being a little cynical, I understand that there is not a lot of latitude with it. "which is why" ...But,
I remember when H-380 was quite popular for .223.
You can't hardly find it listed in any New publications. if at all.
