Arkansas: 89th General Assembly
I've decided to start a thread for the 89th General Assembly. The primary purpose of this thread is to allow my fellow Arkansans to keep an eye on our legislators:
Arkansas General Assembly Homepage HOUSE BILLS: HB 1012: TO PROVIDE FOR JURISDICTIONAL COOPERATION REGARDING ARRESTS, SEARCHES, AND SEIZURES BY FEDERAL EMPLOYEES HB 1035: TO ALLOW TRAINED AND LICENSED STAFF AND FACULTY TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN ON A UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE, OR COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. HOUSE RESOLUTIONS: HR 1003: TO ENCOURAGE THE PRESERVATION OF RIGHTS GUARANTEED BY THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. SENATE BILLS: Nothing of interest as of this posting. SENATE RESOLUTIONS: Nothing of interest as of this posting.

HR 1003 and HB 1012 seem at ends

It may seem that way, but, well, how shall I put this? Let's call it: The author of HB 1012 used a "variant definition" of the word "cooperate." Basically, it says that any federal agents who are not designated as LE by state law must get permission from the local sheriff or our AG to make arrests any any non-federal ground in Arkansas.

HB 1012 looks to be a strong declaration of state sovereignty. I'll send Denny a note thanking him for that one.
Hope it gets some traction. Is there anything about open carry? Oklahoma has it now. |

I haven't seen anything about OC yet, but I'll update this thread as bills roll in.
