5 digit ser # .38 S&W / Need help please
I have a .38 caliber S&W revolver that I need help with the manufacturing date, and a value would be an added bonus.
Let me describe it: 2" barrel With the barrel pointing left, there is Smith & Wesson stamped on the barrel and the trade mark stamp under the thumbslide. With the barrel pointing right, there is 38 S&W SPL stamped on the barrel, and the words "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SNITH @ WESSON (the symbol for and is not the usual ampersand) SPRINGFIELD, MASS." The number 48525 is stamped on the metal at the bottom between the grips, and the stamping is uneven, as if each number were done by hand. The same number is also stamped on the interior rim of the cartridge that holds the bullets. The pistol looks like it was originally blued and has the original finish. Any help on this gun would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by micreusa; November 11, 2008 at 07:21 PM. Reason: added text |
