German maybe ??
A friend wants to know for his mother what a certain revolvers origin is.
Maybe you could help, it looks like a .32 caliber to me, on top of the barrel on line 1 it says FD Grotheu Sohn, next line Stendal. Its a 6-shot revolver, with a flip up chrome looking trigger.. Got any clues ?? Regards |

Stendal is a city in Saxony-Anhalt state, central Germany. It lies along the Uchte River, north of Magdeburg.
The name may be the maker or the retailer. If the gun has a folding trigger it is probably one of the hundreds of thousands of small pocket revolvers made in Europe in the 1890-1920 period. Some were chambered for the .25 and .32 ACP cartridges, but others were made for long-obsolete cartridges. Value in general is not high, those guns being considered more as curiosities than as collectors items in this country. A picture would help and might help in gaining further information. Jim |
