New "slightly used " S&W 4506 !

Well this pistol has seen less than 200 rounds through it and the 2nd magazine that came with it has never been used......I've heard this pistol will handle .45 +P ammo without a hick up but overall don't plan on using too much of that anyway except occasionally ! Now the bad....I've been looking online for spare parts ( if and when needed ) and can't find a good source ! I think S&W has discontinued making a lot of the stock parts as well for this model ! I've heard the 4506 is supposedly built like a tank so maybe the change of recoil springs and such will get me years of service without a worry...still it is a little discomforting knowing that the spare parts supply is dwindling with no hope of S&W making more ( from what I've read ) ! Anyway , it seems like a great pistol ! Oh yeah , I just installed the rubber Hogue grips that came with it separately !

Very nice pistol. I love the 3rd generation S&W 45s. I doubt you will ever have an issue with it.

These are excellent pistols! My father carried one while he was a LEO and now I have it and it has been an exceptional pistol. Best .45acp I own. It will serve you well. I got alot of spare parts and springs from midway and brownells for mine. Even got a new barrel waiting for $99.99.

Thanks all , I will check out Midway and Brownells again but I think other owners are grabbing what they can ! I know that you can still get springs from Wolff !

I've had one for years and never had a problem with it.

A lot of the parts will be around for a while -- I picked up a few from S&W within the past year (sight-related). And Numrich will have some stuff, too. About all you're really likely to need, however, are mag or recoil springs.

Another picture of the 4506 without the cardboard flap covering some of it.....must be the original 4506 with the squared off trigger guard which I heard changed to a more round trigger guard on the redesigned 4506-1 ! I also heard the 4506-1 had a bit heavier and beefier slide and frame.....is this true ? Thanks for posting some of the parts supply outlets which I will check out....I emailed S&W to see what would be available for stock parts in the future !

Mine is a 4506-1 with the beefed up frame, which did away with the "step" in the frame above the trigger.

But it has the squared off trigger guard. So I guess it is an in-between version.

Great gun and I use +P rounds in it as my home defense gun.
