Stock question on Enfield No 5 rifle

Can anyone tell me if a forend from a NO 4 rifle can be cut down to fit the NO 5 rifle? Springfield Sporters does not have forends for the NO 5 in stock. Got a new buttstock from Gun Parts Corp. but they didn't have any forends either. Any help would be much appreciated.
